NINETY-THREE YEARS’ SERVICE OF STUDENTS’ HOME & 25TH RE-UNION
Dear Sir,
By the grace of God the Students’ Home will complete 93 years of useful
service to the needy students in the year 2009. We will hold the 25th re-union of
ex-students and present students in this year sometime in December 2009 after a
gap of 3 years. To mark this auspicious occasion a souvenir will be published in the
month of December 2009. We envisaged a theme for the souvenir titled
“Eternal India” and it will contain thought provoking articles by eminent writers.
It will be circulated to a very large and respectable section of the society in India
and abroad.
The Ramakrishna Mission Calcutta Students’ Home is an affiliated branch of
the world renowned Ramakrishna Mission, Belur. The Students’ Home follows the
ancient Gurukula system of education adapted to modern times and needs as
envisaged by Swami Vivekananda. It is a non-collegiate hostel specially meant for
those who have the capacity but no means to pursue higher studies. The Home
provides them with food, accommodation, fees, books, clothings etc. free of
charge. The daily routine of the Home is designed in a manner to inculcate in them
moral, ethical and character building qualities so that they can stand on their own
feet and become responsible human beings. Considering their merits and
circumstances, some part-paying and some full-paying students are also admitted
not exceeding 1/3rd of the total roll strength. Such students are treated at par
with others for the Home’s daily curriculum.
The resources of the Home mainly come from general donations and interest
of the permanent fund donations.
We, therefore, earnestly appeal to you and your friends to help us
generously by offering advertisement in the proposed souvenir as well as donation,
so that we can continue our objective in the service of the needy. The crossed a/c
payee cheques /drafts should be drawn in favour of Ramakrishna Mission Calcutta
Students’ Home. All contributions will be thankfully acknowledged.
Donations to the Home are exempt from Income tax u/s 80G vide Memo No.
DIT(E) 8E/109/69-70/5929-31 dated 12-01-2009 valid upto 31-03-2014.
