It being the 150th Birth Anniversary of Srimat Swami Vijnananandaji Maharaj, initiative has been taken to celebrate it in a befitting manner. As a part of the celebrations, his holy abirbhaba tithi (3rd November, 2017) was observed with special puja and homa in the morning and a public meeting in the afternoon. The Public Meeting was chaired by Revered Srimat Swami Vagishanandaji Maharaj whereas Swami Balabhadranandaji was the main speaker. This meeting was attended by three hundred devotees.
Like previous years, Swami Vijnanananda Smriti Utsav was observed on 5th November 2017. A colorful procession which was attended by nearly 650 students and devotees in and adjacent to Belgharia area. Reading and discourses on Swami Vijnananandaji’s life and teachings, devotional songs by many artists, Padavali Kirtan, Ramnam Kirtanam, etc were followed by. The celebration culminated with a public meeting in the afternoon. Srimat Swami Devarajanandaji Maharaj, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, presided and Srimat Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj, Asst. Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, was the speaker. A good number of ex-students and devotees attended the daylong programme. About 1400 devotees were served with cooked prasada.
Saraswati Puja was celebrated with all joy and solemnity on 22 January, 2018. Around 2000 devotees and ex-students attended and were served with cooked Prasada at noon.
Saraswata Sammalen was held on 23rd January morning. The topic of discussion was “Sister Nivedita, who gave her all to India”. The special issue of the hand-written magazine ‘Vidyarthi’ was also released in this occasion. In prize distribution, complete works of Swami Vivekananda and other religious books were presented to 57 students as “Swami Achintyananda, Suprabha Deb Smriti Puraskar & Maya Saha Smriti Puraskar.” Rupees 10,000/- cash was given to Surat Layek, a First Year student of Physics Hons. as “Snehalata Smriti Puraskar.” A gold medal was awarded to Sri Subhadip Chatterjee for obtaining highest marks in graduation degree course. Revered Srimat Swami Divyagunanandaji Maharaj, Vice-Principal of R.K.M. B.Ed College, Belur, presided the function while Sri Shakti Prasad Misra, Nivedita Chair Professor, R.K.M. Institute of Culture, Golpark, was the chief guest. Again, Prof. Arijit Sarkar, M.C.K.V. Institute of Technology, Liluya, was the speaker.
After immersion of the image of goddess Saraswati and evening aratrikam, students performed one drama named “Agacha.”
The students of third year joined their Educational Tour to Mumbai, Matheran, Ajanta, Ellora, and Daulatabad this year. They started their journey on 5-10-2018 and returned on 14-10-2018. 25 students and 2 monastic brothers attended the Excursion.

The work of the Shilpapitha is going on smoothly.
Annual Sport was celebrated on 18th January, 2017 amidst fun & frolic with ceremonial parade, bands and fireworks. Most of the students, teachers and staff members participated and enjoyed the ceremony.
Sri Sri Saraswati Puja was also celebrated on 1st February 2017. On this occasion there was a group lunch program on 7th February 2017, where the monks, teachers, staff members and students participated making the event truly enjoyable.
PadmaShree Prof. Ajoy Kumar Ray, Director, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur visited Shilpapitha on 15th February 2017 and delivered a motivational lecture to the Students, teachers and staff members of the Institution.
Hydraulics Laboratory, Microprocessor laboratory, Power System Laboratory, CNC Machining Laboratory, Environmental Engineering Laboratory, Metrology Laboratory, Hydraulic Control Laboratory and the new Laboratory for Civil Engineering Department have been renovated raising the floor by 20” to prevent water logging due to flood during the rainy season.
The Concluding part of Centenary Celebrations commenced from December 24 to December 26, 2016. The ceremony was inaugurated by Revered Srimat Swami Divyanandaji Maharaj, Trustee, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math & Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Saradapitha, Belur. More than 300 alumni and lots of devotees attended the programme. Among many distinguished personalities, Revered Srimat Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math, presided one of the sessions and shared his profound wit and intuitive wisdom on “The implement of Swamiji’s educational ideas in the context of modern milieu.” A special ‘Naranarayana Seva’ was arranged where over 150 distressed were served with delicious foods and blankets. Around 500 devotees attended the ‘Public Meeting’ where Srimat Swami Annapurnanadaji Maharaj & Srimat Swami Sarvalokanandaji Maharaj delivered speeches. Each of the evenings was packed with some cultural functions i.e. classical music, drama, juggling performance, hand-shadowgraphy show, performance by the children of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa and boys of a ‘Anwesha – the Quest’ a renowned differently abled foundation. Like every year, a ‘sadhu Bhandara’ was also arranged remembering the hallowed visit of Srimat Swami Brahmanandji at our Ashrama in 1920.
Recently two flood reliefs have been conducted by our Centre. Affected by flood around 200 people took shelter in a school building at Sahapur Ramakrishna Ashrama, Burdwan an affiliated branch of Bhaba Prachar Parisad. A team of volunteers along with our monastic members went there for conducting relief. The victims have been served with cooked khichuri. Sugar and chira were also provided. Around 2000 people got beneficence.
The bigger one was conducted at Nabadwip area. 1540 kg soya chunks, 11,200 kg chira, 2200 kg sugar, 47 cartons of biscuits, 225 kg milk powder, 400 kg bleaching powder and 173 kg lime among 3618 families at Nabadwip in Nadia district from 5 to 9 August.
Besides, medical relief was provided to 424 flood-affected patients on 23 August.
The students of third year are joining their Educational Tour to Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji and Jaldapara this year. They will start their journey on Sept. 19th and will return on 27th Sept.. 30 students and 4 monastic members will be attending the Educational Tour. As one of our third year students’ examination falls on 19th Sept, he will not be able to start the journey on that particular day. But to his grater surprise, Revered Suprakash Maharaj will be accompanying him the next day by Air to join the Team in Guwahati . Though Rev. Maharaj will return on 22nd after having a Darshan to the holy Kamaksha Temple.
